B is for Belonging: Building & Bonding Activities Marjetta Geerling, Rosena Beniste Whether you are planning a learning community or just want to build a stronger community in your classes, this hands-on workshop will guide you through a variety of fun and best-practice-based activities for cultivating a sense of belonging, building student social support systems, and fostering student bonds.
Being a Better Person Felicidad Archila Each of us since the day we are born carries the seeds of joy, fulfillment and kindness.  A fundamental part of a successful life involves bringing those seeds to fruition.  This one-hour session is a sampling of the Peace Education Program offered in 80 countries and 40 languages around the world, focused on developing more fully these inner resources.  The session will involve some self-awareness exercises, a video presentation from Prem Rawat (www.premrawat.com, the creator of the Peace Education Program, www.tprf.org), and personal reflection.  From this session one will learn about listening more closely to oneself, identifying one’s own internal resources and developing a deeper sense of personal freedom and possibility.
Bullet Journaling 101 Jennifer Newell

Bullet Journaling® is a methodology best described as a mindfulness practice disguised as a productivity system. It’s designed to help you organize your “What?” while you remain aware of your “Why?”. The goal of the Bullet Journal is to help its practitioners (bullet journalists) live intentional, meaningful, and productive lives.

Bullet Journaling is also a customizable and forgiving organization system. It can be your to-do list, sketchbook, notebook, and diary, but most likely, it will be all of the above.  It will teach you to do more with less! The system can be used for self-care and reflection through collections of habit tracking, health and fitness, reflective journaling, and more.  It starts with just a pen and a notebook.

Creating Connections in Dual Enrollment Alexis Kitchman, Laura McDermott The Dual Enrollment (DE) Program at Broward College is an accelerated program that enables qualified students to take postsecondary coursework and simultaneously earn high school and college credits. Participants will gain insights into the essential role that all faculty and staff across the college play toward the success of the DE program and its students. All are welcome to attend this session including any Broward College parents who would like to learn about the program.

Elevate Your Entrepreneurial Spirit with an Understanding of the Entrepreneurial Mindset Myra Graber, Martha Rios Participants will introduce themselves and briefly explain their interest in entrepreneurship. Florida-Friendly Landscaping in Urban Environments Lorna Bravo (UF/IFAS Extension Office, Broward County Parks and Recreation) Did you know that up to 60% of a Florida household’s total water consumption might be directed to the landscape? Typical residential landscape plants often receive more water than is required to perform at a satisfactory level. This water applied in excess presents an opportunity for conservation, and the Florida-Friendly Landscaping (FLL) program is ready to help. In this session, participants will learn the 9 Florida-Friendly Landscaping (FLL) principles, identify ways to become a recognized FFL Residential Landscape, and describe the purpose and services of the UF/IFAS Extension office at Broward County.

The audience will be informed of the various onboarding strategies used to communicate, coach, and convert students.
Get Ready for Windows 11 Derron Stewart This workshop is designed to help university staff prepare for the upcoming release of Windows 11. The session will delve into the fresh features and functionalities introduced by Windows 11, offering participants a hands-on opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new operating system. By the end of this workshop, participants will have the knowledge and skills necessary to confidently use Windows 11 and take advantage of its new features and capabilities.
Inspiration Starts with YOU! Joyce Walsh-Portillo Inspired Teaching leads to engaged students.  Engaged students lead to greater retention and completion. The Community College Research Center (CCRC) has developed an approach titled Ask, Connect, Inspire, and Plan (ACIP).  Inspire is all about creating “WOW” content to encourage students as they begin to choose their pathways.  The workshop will identify common characteristics that all “WOW!” courses share.  Attendees will participate in breakout groups and will learn and share best practices.
International Virtual Exchange Programs Eileen Santiago, Maria Bernal, Andrea Apa Virtual exchanges promote student engagement, and cultural exchange experiences. In this course, faculty will learn about the benefits of facilitating a Virtual exchange and the learning opportunities for students to interact with students in another country. Faculty will have access to a self-paced course that provides information and support on starting an exchange.
Leading Forward Marjorie Loring As organizations face the future of work head on, it is critical for current and developing leaders at all levels to be adaptive to the integration of emerging technologies while maintaining a commitment to the foundational principles of people management. In this session participants will explore three areas critical to effective leadership and learn where AI fits into the leadership puzzle.
Mirroring 360 Around the Classroom! Kyla Williams This course demonstrates to faculty how to increase student engagement in the classroom by casting device screens onto a computer and/or projector. Both faculty and students can effortlessly share and record content from their devices or interactive whiteboards while remaining seated. Participants will actively explore the Mirroring 360 technology tool during the session. Please remember to bring your tablets for a hands-on experience, or if you don’t have one, a tablet will be provided for you.
Negotiation: Separating People from Problems Brittany Valera Learn negotiation and conflict management skills including saving face, perspective-taking, and how to navigate conflict while preserving relationships. Get to the root of what you want accomplished with an approach that separates people from problems. Through hands-on negotiation scenarios, participants will learn the basis of salary negotiation, a useful skill in professional development. At the end of the session, participants will leave with a salary negotiation worksheet to assist in applying these newly acquired skills.
New Frontiers in Extended and Virtual Reality Raz Ben-ezzer This course introduces and showcases Extended Reality (XR) and Virtual Reality (VR) using Meta Quest devices. It highlights their applications in education, student projects, and development within our Immersive Technology BAS specialization.
Personal Safety Korella Holmes In this course, individuals will learn best practices to enhance personal safety at work, at home, or in transit. Particular emphasis will focus on discussions and practices dedicated to preventing victimization.
Supporting Tomorrow’s Learners Lisa Martin, Margarita Quiles, Stephanie Neubert, Olivia Elliston, Shefali Choksi Students have varying academic needs. The Academic Success Center (ASC) strives to address these needs by employing a range of strategies, including conducting group study sessions, providing one-on-one tutoring through various modalities, and organizing activities that promote active learning. Our goal is to assist students in reaching their academic potential in their courses, fostering independence and a proactive approach to learning.
The ABCs of ABL: All About Active Blended Learning Domenica Diraviam, Heidi Keller, Silvana Schwann This session explores the best practices aligned with Active Blended Learning (ABL). In addition to discovering the principles of ABL, participants will evaluate scenarios in which ABL is applied across disciplines. Equipped with this knowledge, participants will implement ABL principles into their lessons, not only in blended delivery, but across learning modalities.

Faculty librarians host a discussion/workshop on the ways AI such as ChatGPT, Bing, and other Generative AI tools are being used by students and how the research process can benefit using AI technology.

The workshop does not propose to provide all answers on AI and Academics but aims to provide a place for discussion and to demonstrate examples of practical ways to utilize this technology.

Wikimedia Resources for Class Projects Victor Lawrence The workshop will engage participants in an overview of Wikimedia resources for educational purposes.
Examples include Wikiuniversity, which offers video tutorials to bolster course topics, and Wikiedu, designed for developing class projects focused on writing or editing topic-specific content pages on Wikipedia. Additionally, there will be a discussion on the role that Wikimedia plays in our contemporary digital information landscape.
Zoom AI Companion Demo Dan Nicholson (Zoom), Brian Harrison, Chris Magnus In this course, we will showcase and offer practical use for Zoom’s innovative AI Companion feature in Zoom meetings. The demonstration will encompass the following key aspects: Initiating a Meeting as the Host and enabling AI Companion, Enabling Latecomers to Catch up, Checking if Your Name was Mentioned, Asking Clarifying Questions, Automatic Meeting Summary Generation, AI Companion for Education Settings within D2L.
