New Faculty Institute

New Faculty Institute (NFI) is an expanded orientation program intended to acclimate new
continuing contract-eligible Faculty to Broward College’s expectations, norms, and resources as
well as to improve instruction. This five-year program has an emphasis on student learning and
faculty retention, providing a structured pathway to success as educators, scholars, and members of our college community.

NFI Structure

Aligned with the college’s Teaching & Learning Excellence definition and framework , The NFI is structured to address the critical stages of a faculty member’s career, offering continuous support, resources, and opportunities for growth. Through a blend of workshops, mentoring, collaborative projects, and reflective practices, participants will gain the tools and strategies needed to enhance student learning, foster inclusive and engaging learning environments, and develop a fulfilling academic career.

Program Modality

The NFI will be delivered through various modalities, combining in-person sessions, online modules, and asynchronous activities. This approach allows for flexibility while ensuring meaningful engagement and community building among new faculty members. In-person sessions will be held at various campus locations, while online components will be accessible through our learning management system, D2L.
