What is the AI Institute?
The Broward College AI Institute is an innovative professional development program designed to equip instructors with the skills and knowledge necessary to integrate AI tools into teaching practices across all disciplines. This blended course runs for approximately six weeks, and combines live discipline-specific synchronous sessions with comprehensive online materials, focusing on evidence-based teaching practices and discipline-specific AI integration strategies. Participants engage in hands-on activities, collaborative discussions, and the development of a personalized AI toolkit, all aimed at enhancing the educational experience for students and staying at the forefront of technological advancements in education.
Participants gain an understanding of various AI tools and technologies and learn how to effectively apply these tools to enhance teaching and learning outcomes within their specific disciplines. Participants develop and implement discipline-specific AI teaching & learning strategies, creating an instructional toolkit that can be shared collegewide, contributing to a collaborative learning environment and the broader academic community. Participants learn how to foster an innovative learning environment that leverages AI technologies, including designing AI-specific activities and assessments, facilitating meaningful discussions, and mentoring peers in the use of AI in education.
